Adam Cracknell is the founder and head coach of Desert Ice Hockey. Drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2004, Cracknell has played for seven NHL teams, including the St Louis Blues, Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, New York Rangers and Anaheim Ducks. In addition, he has proudly represented his home country of Canada at the 2018 Spengler Cup and again in 2022 at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Cracknell brings over 210 NHL games and over 20 professional playing seasons from 23 organizations to the brand.

Captain of the Tucson Roadrunners for the 2022-23 season, Cracknell realized then that Tucson’s youth were underserved in the hockey industry. Under his leadership and experience, the next generation of Tucson hockey players will finally be able to elevate their game locally. Over the course of the training program, athletes will immerse themselves in athletic conditioning and intense skills training on synthetic ice in Tucson, then work on-ice skills during ice weeks in Tempe at Mullett Arena. Cracknell’s hybrid model allows for the best of both worlds for players to prepare like pros for the upcoming hockey season.
